This case study explores the process of rebranding Shawnee Bluff Winery & Vineyard and designing their wine labels, as well as the development of a user-friendly, event-driven website to showcase their offerings, including their newest venture, Riverbird Winery.incorporated into the packaging design to create brand recognition and strengthen the brand identity.
Objective: The primary objective of the project was to develop a fresh and distinctive brand identity for Shawnee Bluff Winery that aligned with the charm and beauty of the Lake of the Ozarks. The aim was to create a brand that would resonate with wine enthusiasts and attract a wider customer base. Additionally, the project involved branding and marketing for Riverbird Winery, Shawnee Bluff’s upcoming venture.
The rebranding process began with in-depth research and analysis of the winery’s target audience, competitors, and the local market. This phase involved understanding the unique selling points of Shawnee Bluff and identifying opportunities for differentiation.
Strategy: Based on the research findings, a brand strategy was developed to position Shawnee Bluff Winery & Vineyard as a fun, professional, and unique winery destination at the Lake of the Ozarks. The strategy emphasized the winery’s commitment to quality, hospitality, and the region’s natural beauty.
Logo & Visual Identity: The rebranding process for Shawnee Bluff Winery & Vineyard included the creation of a sophisticated logo that incorporated an updated version of the hand-drawn SB icon, which symbolized the winery’s heritage. The logo design cleverly depicted the SB icon coming together and holding a glass of wine, infusing the brand with a touch of fun and personality.
The color palette chosen for the logo and brand identity was inspired by the panoramic and breathtaking views of the rolling hills and the serene lake of the Ozarks, with a nod to the world of wine. Warm and earthy tones were carefully selected to evoke a sense of sophistication and to reflect the winery’s connection to its natural surroundings. This color scheme added depth and visual appeal to the brand, enhancing its overall aesthetic.
Wine Labels & Package Design: To complement the rebranding efforts, a series of wine labels were created that showcased the distinct personality of Shawnee Bluff’s wines. Each label featured unique illustrations and typography to capture the essence of the wine varietals and reinforce the brand’s identity.
Riverbird Branding: As part of the project, the branding for Shawnee Bluff’s newest venture, Riverbird Winery, was also developed. The concept focused on creating a distinct identity for Riverbird that reflected its location overlooking the Missouri Niagara River and complemented the existing Shawnee Bluff brand.

Special attention was given to creating a user-friendly interface that was visually appealing and optimized for mobile devices.
